Summer Update

Howdy Friends and Neighbors,

Wanted to give you all a quick update on what's happening in Tourist Town!

We had a great time at Whitewater Center last week, and Wes, Shane, and Hannah of WestArtVideo captured some great video footage, so be on the lookout for that over the next few weeks.

We're recording again and hope to release a new single that Tom wrote within the next month or so. We'll keep you posted on where and when you can get that into your players!

Lot's of great shows coming up that we're really excited about. Watch our social media pages for details.

See you out there somewhere soon!

Peace & Love

Busy Fall!

Hey Y'all! Lot's of stuff happening in Flatland Tourists land these days! Here's a quick update:

The new record, Carry Me Home, went to radio about four weeks ago and early reports have been great. It's been added to the rotation playlist at 94 Americana stations across the country so far and is already in "medium" rotation (10-19 plays per week) at several stations. The record made a big move on the Americana Music / Billboard charts this past week, too, moving up 45 spots from the past week to #139 (out of 1000 reporting). Many, many thanks to our promotion company, Bill Wence Promotions. And, we can't thank the stations enough for playing it and we appreciate you fine folks letting those stations know you dig hearing our tunes on the air. Please remind them to spin it some more, our goal for this release is to crack the "Top 100." With your help, it'll get there!

The "official release date" for the record is September 12. You'll be able to get hard copies and downloads at all the major on-line locations then. In the meantime, you can get a free download of the track "Deep End" now by subscribing to our email list. Just click here.

We've got a lot of shows coming up this fall, too. Check the calendar on the website for details, hope to see you there. We're especially excited about our "local" CD Release Party show. It's gonna be Saturday, Oct. 7th at Southern Range Brewing Company in Monroe, NC. We start at 7 pm on the outdoor stage. If you've not been to this brewery, you are gonna love it! It's gonna be a large time, for sure, don't miss it!

And, stay tuned for a BIG show announcement coming up around the first week of September. We're really looking forward to this one, and we think you will be, too.

So, okay, you fine folks are "up to speed" now. Remember, call or email your favorite Americana radio station and request a tune and mark those shows on your calendar! See you all soon!

Y'all be kind to each other ~ Peace & Love,

Feeling the Love!

Feeling the hometown love from The Charlotte Observer and music writer, Courtney Devores, this morning. We are honored to be included on this list of 12 artists from Charlotte, and especially with fellow Americana artist, David Childers, on the list! Check out the whole article here:

The record is scheduled for "official release" on Sep 12th. You can pre-order soon! We'll post here as soon as it's available!

Peace and Love, y'all!

Release Info for Carry Me Home!

Well, Folks, we have the schedules for the new release. It's a full length CD titled Carry Me Home. The record goes to radio on July 5th with an official release date of September 12th. The single, Deep End, will be available as a pre-release iTunes download on July 18th, and if you pre-order the entire CD through iTunes, you can get the single as a free download as soon as you order!

If you are in the Monroe / Charlotte NC area this Saturday night, come out to our show at Buddy's Point. We will have a very limited number of the CDs for sale at the show. These are the only ones that will be available before September!

And, we probably should hold onto this a little bit longer, but we're so excited we've gotta give you a hint. Keep an eye on our blog here and our social media sites about a very special event we're hosting on November 12th at the Neighborhood Theater. You're gonna dig it...

New Record Coming Soon!

Howdy Friends and Neighbors!

We've had a blast seeing you fine folks at some of the recent shows! At those shows we've mentioned the new record but didn't give you any firm dates. Wanted to give you a quick update - we're mastering at Studio B in Charlotte, NC on May 31st and will go to final production/press soon after. We're looking at a late June / early July release date. We'll let you know as soon as we settle on the exact date for the release and when it'll be going to radio. Meanwhile, we're working on the calendar for gigs to support the new release. Let us know if you've got a venue in mind, or even better, tell the venue and have them contact us!

See you soon!

Wrapping up 2016

Howdy folks!

Well, 2016 is drawing to a close. It's been a good year - we played a lot of great shows, met a lot of new friends, had a large time with a lot of old friends, and we laid down tracks for the new record which should be out early 2017. And, the film "Tarnation" produced and released by Strongman Pictures wrapped production - and the movie features our tune "No Work, No Pay"!

Many thanks to all of you that helped make the year a success and for your continued support.  We appreciate you coming to the shows, buying our merch, and sharing in the good times in general!

We're working on the schedule for next year and should start posting dates on the site in the next few weeks. And of course, we'll let you know as things progress on the new record.

Finally, we were honored to play one more show at the Double Door Inn. The venue was a Charlotte, NC icon since 1973. The venue is closing at the end of the year. It'll be missed! Here's a video of us covering the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' "Standing on the Rock" (thanks Lynn Hinson for filming and sharing!).

Y'all have a happy and safe Holiday season. We'll see you after first of the year!

Peace & Love,
Rachel, Joe, Frank, Billy, Tom, & Kevin

Back in the Studio!

Howdy friends and neighbors!

Wanted to let y'all know we've officially started working on the next record. We spent this past weekend at Old House Studios in Charlotte, NC laying down the basic tracks for the next record with Mark Williams again producing. The production mixes were great, and we're really excited about the new record. Tom will be adding fiddle tracks in the coming weeks, then it's on to the next stage. We're planning on a Jan/Feb 2017 release.

We'll keep you posted on how things are coming along! Meanwhile, if y'all are anywhere near Bryson City, NC this weekend, come on out to Nantahala Brewing Company Saturday night (7/30). We'll be there, and it's gonna be a large time!

Single "No Work, No Pay" Listed #15 Folk Single for 2015!

Two singles from the self-titled 2015 release made it onto the Roots Music Report Top 200 Folk Singles of 2015. "No Work, No Pay" was ranked as number 15 for the year, and "Cold Water River" was ranked as number 60. The singles joined other tunes by Jason Isbell, James Taylor, Rhiannon Gibbons, Mark Knoplfer, the Indigo girls and others in the Top 20 selections. The EP was also ranked #63 in the Roots Music Report Top 200 Folk Albums of 2015.

The EP enjoyed airplay rotation at over 60 Americana, NPR, and Triple A radio stations across the US.

The title track of the second EP, "Front Porch" also charted at #103 in the Americana Country Top 200 of 2015. We were especailly excited about that, as the radio promotion for the second EP didn't start until late October, so the tunes had a limited amount of airplay time to chart. The EP is currently in rotation at over 85 Americana, NPR, and Triple A radio stations across the US.

And, we've already scheduled studio time for our next release! We'll be back at Old House studios in July of 2016, tracking with Mark Williams and Chris Garges in the booth!
